Heritage Week Events of the Past Revisited ... 2012

The Glens of Lead has always had the aims and objectives of preserving and highlighting the rich mining heritage of the three valleys and Heritage Week events are a great way of getting our message out to the local community and a wider audience on a national level.

Talks, walks and demonstrations are a means of educating the public in the geology of the Wicklow Mountains and the methods and practices carried out by the miners over the centuries. The social history of the area and the lives of the miners is also a very important aspect of the story of mining in the Wicklow Mountains.
